About Tony
Tony Byrnes started working in corporate America to pay for college. It was there he got his first opportunity to lead a team, and something about it clicked in a way a classroom never did. The pace, the people, the challenge of getting a group of individuals to actually move together. He never looked back.
He worked his way from those early management roles to corporate VP without following a traditional path. He took a voluntary demotion once to learn a skill set he knew he was missing. He built workflows, launched products, managed multi-million dollar programs, and led teams through acquisitions, reorgs, and the kind of internal chaos most leadership books pretend does not exist.
The Moment That Changed Everything
In 2022, Tony left a company that had convinced him he was a one-hit wonder. That the success he had built was a product of that place and those people, not him.
Then he walked into his next VP role and started winning again.
That was the moment. Not a book, not a course, not a coach. Just undeniable evidence that the skills were his. That he could land on his feet. That he belonged in those rooms.
He started asking himself why. He was capable, but so is everyone at that level. What actually made the difference? The answer kept coming back to the same thing: workplace influence. Understanding how organizations actually operate. Knowing how to build visibility, protect your reputation, and move people without a mandate.
Nobody had taught him that. He learned it the hard way, through mistakes he made and patterns he recognized too late. He built Lead With Tony to give people a faster path.
What He Teaches
Tony's work is built on one core belief: there is not as much separating you from the people at the top as you think. The gap is not intelligence. It is not talent. It is understanding how influence works inside organizations and knowing how to use it without losing yourself in the process.
He created the Blackout Guide to Workplace Influence and the Managing Up MasterSystem, two courses built entirely from real situations, not theory. The tactics inside have been tested across nearly two decades in complex organizations where the stakes were real and the politics were real.
If you have ever felt like you were doing everything right and still getting passed over, that is exactly who he built this for.
One thing he learned the hard way: your reputation can be torn down in a single moment. No leadership book is going to help you if you cannot control your emotions when it counts.
Where He Is Now
Tony holds a senior leadership role in the fiber and broadband industry and runs Lead With Tony in parallel. He lives in the Dallas area with his family. He trains hard, leads by example, and has no interest in pretending any of this is easy.
He is not selling a shortcut. He is sharing what actually works.
